Some performers will forever be associated with Christmas, and Andy Williams is one such performer. Enjoy this brief clip from a Christmas show from long ago.

Last December, PBS ran an Andy Williams Special, including the back story of his life, his family etc.. and I kid you not, I was in tears. Watching the special brought me back to my youth.
That same month, PBS also ran a Carol Burnett special causing me to buy her Box Set DVD collection.
Last week over Thanksgiving my brother and I watched a few of the DVDs and we were howling. At one point my brother (who is 2 years older than me, I’m 46) said, “This was damn good television.” and I said, “Yep, it sure was. They don’t make TV like this anymore.” I lose it, ever time I see Harvey Korman start to lose it. Tim Conway had a gift for making poor Harv just lose is it.
[sigh]
Those are some good times. [sniff]
🙂
SUSAN!!! I’m not sure if it’s my age or this time of year, but there I am definitely becoming more nostalgic. I’m so tired of reality and sort-of-reality shows and talent shows. I’d love a variety show — good writing, comedy that isn’t demeaning or rude, music. I don’t know if you have an iPhone or iPad, but there are two apps you would love: Video Time Machine and Holiday Time Machine. You can go back in time and watch classic shows. And, here are some early Christmas gifts for you, courtesy of Carol Burnett:

Kevin! Well said. That’s exactly how I feel.
I love these CB videos and yes I do have an iPhone. Thanks for including.

You, my friend, are most welcome. 🙂
Thank you so much for including these clips! I can remember watching the show with my Momma. She (and I) got such a kick from Carol, Harvey and Tim. You made my morning MUCH brighter!
Hi Carol. Television the way it used to — and ought to — be. Glad I made your day brighter! 🙂
Oh and you gotta love the Williams brothers in their matching sweaters in every color, with Any always in white. 🙂
Love it!!!
oops. I meant *Andy*
😐
Sorry about all the typos.
No prob! 🙂
Ooooohh, I just want to run and put up my silver tree with the color wheel! Thanks for the entertainment!! :O)
Hey Kathy. Go for it. And stay tuned — there’s a new video each day until Christmas — some fun, some nostalgic, some moving, and some funny. 🙂
Andy Williams!!!!! No one makes you get into the spirit like he could!
Hi Alesia! You said it! Stay tuned for more music each day. 🙂
i do love Andy Williams and I really consider this song a classic. I watched the Andy Williams show from the very beginning when I was probably no older than about 10 years old. I loved all the guests and remember when the Osmond’s were just getting started, too. You are definitely putting me in a very nostalgic mood. I’m glad you like some of these oldies…I didn’t exactly think of Andy as an “oldie” until I started adding up the years. 🙂
Debra. At this point, I think most of us are oldies. Goodies, but oldies! 🙂
